Dr Stephen Norman

Writer and ex-CIO

Stephen Norman spent 20 years at the forefront of investment banking IT. During the 1990s he was involved in the expansion of the new electronic trading markets.

In 1996 he joined Merrill Lynch and worked in a variety of IT roles during the rise and fall of the dotcoms and the destruction of 911, ending as CTO of Merrill Lynch. In 2005 he joined RBS Global Markets as CIO, a post he held through the years of expansion, the acquisition of ABN AMRO and the subsequent collapse of RBS. 

In 2012, he left the world of finance to focus on his writing. His debut novel Trading Down, a cybercrime thriller set in a bank, was published by Endeavour Press in Nov 2017.

Stephen has a PhD from Stanford University. His personal interests include the use of intelligent software for teaching basic skills to children.
